The George has been around for as long as anyone can remember, but in early 2016 it was been treated to a huge makeover including 15 wonderfully comfy en-suite bedrooms. Standing proudly in the centre of Shipston High Street, it still remains as the tallest building on the street at three and a half stories. The look is described as modern yet sympathetic to it’s late 18th century features with a feel of casual elegance.
The ground floor of the George Townhouse is spacious, and their extensive menu covers all meal times with food taken very seriously. Where possible, food is sourced locally to support local producers, and for those items that come from further afield, they know exactly where it’s come from and will make sure you know too.
Everyone who works at the George lives nearby and are always happy to give recommendations about places worth visiting in the local area. The George Townhouse look forward to seeing you soon whether it be for a bite to eat, if you’re staying the night, or just a quick drink.
The Bell’s unique and individual approach makes it a special place to visit and a place for all occasions. Whether it be a bar snack, light lunch or special dinner, the chefs are passionate about the food they offer, and use locally sourced fresh seasonal produce to create a delicious menu of British favourites. The Bell is proud of its AA Rosette for culinary excellence.
From candle-lit mismatched tables and chairs in the bar to the contemporary two floor restaurant, and sophisticated courtyard garden with countryside views, there is a place for everyone.
The pub retains many of its distinctive character features such as flagged stone floors, exposed beams and open fires. Their very own Alscot Ale accompanies a selection of local guest beers, and their wines are well researched and the list is carefully handpicked.
Each and every one of the nine boutique rooms have been individually designed to create extremely stylish and comfortable accommodation.
The Bell believe the small things make a huge difference and therefore each room is supplied with fresh milk, Joe's Tea, fresh ground coffee, and hand-made biscuits from their own kitchen.
